Kewanee Police Arrest Bloomington Man for Firearm Disturbance at Fairview Homes

Kewanee Police arrested Jeffery M. Hollingsworth, 23, of Bloomington after a disturbance involving a firearm at Fairview Homes. Officers were dispatched for a disturbance at Fairview Homes on April 9, 2025, around 5:45 PM, where suspects left the scene before officers arrived. Initial findings revealed a physical altercation, culminating in an occupant of the vehicle brandishing a handgun at others. Officers were later called again to the same location as the incident persisted. During the subsequent investigation, authorities identified and located the suspect through interviews and collected evidence, including cell phone and surveillance footage.

Police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun from the suspect vehicle and an additional 9mm handgun and an extra magazine following a search of one of the suspects. Jeffery Hollingsworth is charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony) and Aggravated Unlawful Possession of A Weapon (Class 4 Felony). Hollingsworth was denied pretrial release. A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for April 14, 2025, at 1 PM.

Hollingsworth was released from the Illinois Department of Corrections on March 10th following a plea deal for five years in prison for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in January 2023.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
