Kewanee Community Unit School District #229 has announced the cancellation of all after-school programs, practices, and activities on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. This decision comes in response to severe weather forecasts expected to impact the region. Although the regular school day will continue as planned, any after-school athletics, extracurricular activities, clubs, and school-sponsored events are called off to prioritize the safety of students, staff, and families. Superintendent Rebecca Baney urges families to remain alert to weather updates and make preparations for the changing conditions this afternoon. Safety remains the district’s primary focus.

Superintendent Rebecca Baney said, “Student safety is always our top priority. We encourage families to monitor local weather updates and plan accordingly for the afternoon.”
