Kewanee, Wethersfield, and Annawan Seniors Receive Certificate of Recognition by the Illinois House of Representatives

Representative Travis Weaver announced on his Facebook page that Kewanee, Wethersfield, and Annawan High School students were awarded a Certificate of Recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives.  Cooper Bates, Dillon Horrie, and Olivia Goodley were awarded for their academic and athletic achievements. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission presents the award to approximately the top ten percent of high school seniors statewide for their academic performance. Standardized test scores and performance-based academic data are also key factors in the formula used to determine eligibility.

Cooper Bates received the award because of his academic, musical, and theater career at Kewanee. Cooper Bates has been selected as a two-time All-State Cast Member in the Illinois High School Association’s (IHSA) Group Interpretive Competitive Drama. He was also All-State Honors Chorus 2024 and the IHSA Speech two-time Regional Champ, two-time Sectional Champ, and two-time State Qualifier for Original Comedy. Cooper Bates maintained a 4.145 GPA at Kewanee High School. Representative Travis Weaver said, “Congratulations, Cooper, I am proud to offer you this well-deserved Certificate of Recognition. We can’t wait to see what else you accomplish in the future!”

Dillon Horrie received the award because of his academic and athletic achievements at Wethersfield High School. Dillon Horrie received Academic All-State and High Honor Roll honors while at Wethersfield High School.  He excelled in football, basketball, and baseball.  He is a member of the National Honor Society, co-captain of the football and baseball teams, an FCA leader, a member of the Student Council, and is active in numerous extracurricular activities and volunteer events. Representative Travis Weaver said, “Dillon, I am proud to offer you this Certificate of Recognition and best of luck with all your future endeavors!”

Olivia Goodley received the award because of her academic and athletic achievements at Annawan High School. Olivia Goodley received Academic All-State Honorable Mention and High Honor Roll honors while at Annawan High School. She excelled in five sports and was a finalist for Poetry Out Loud. She is a member of the National Honor Society, co-captain of the girl’s basketball and volleyball teams, an FCS leader, participates in the Student Council, and is active in many extracurricular activities and volunteer events. Legislative Assistant Karun Jaswal presented the Certificate of Recognition to Olvia. Representative Travis Weaver said, “Congratulations Olivia, I am proud to offer you this Certificate of Recognition and best of luck with your future endeavors!”
