The Knox County Snowmobile Rescue Team has been mobilized following a series of traffic accidents and treacherous road conditions across the region. Traditional emergency vehicles faced significant obstacles, prompting the use of snowmobiles to reach stranded motorists and transport individuals to safety. Officials emphasize that current weather hazards are putting both residents and first responders at increased risk. Authorities urge everyone to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary and to exercise extreme caution when travel cannot be avoided. Coordination between rescue teams and the county’s Dispatch Center has been crucial, enabling rapid and effective multi-agency responses during this ongoing situation.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post, “These conditions present serious risks not only to our citizens, but also to our deputies and first responders working in dangerous environments.”

“A huge thank you to our Dispatch Center for coordinating multi-agency communication and helping ensure a safe, efficient response during these incidents.”
