Leland Man Arrested for Alleged Assault and Disarming of Leland Police Officer

Samuel H. Musson, age 25, was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office in Leland on March 5, 2026. Authorities report that Musson had been wanted for disarming a peace officer and aggravated battery to a peace officer, both classified as Class 2 felonies. These charges originate from a January 2026 altercation during which Musson allegedly tried to seize a Leland police officer’s firearm, resulting in minor injuries for the officer. Following the arrest, Musson was transported to the LaSalle County Jail and awaits a judicial hearing.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
