Illinois Department of Transportation Announces Paving work to begin on Illinois 26 and Interstate 180 ramps in Princeton on May 4th

Drivers passing through Bureau County can expect changes as the Illinois Department of Transportation’s paving work ramps up at the Illinois 26 and Interstate 180 interchanges starting Monday night, May 4th. Crews will close one ramp at a time overnight between 11 PM and 5 AM, with similar work at I-180 on Tuesday from 7 PM to 5 AM. One lane will remain open in each direction throughout the larger Interstate 80 project, except on holiday weekends. These improvements are part of a larger resurfacing project spanning nearly 14 miles of I-80 in Bureau County, stretching from Princeton to Ladd and costing $17.9 million. Efforts are aimed at completion before Memorial Day on the western segment, with the eastern portion following the holiday. Motorists should expect overnight ramp closures and reduced lanes and are urged to drive carefully through the work zones.
