A month after the City of Moline imposed a no-turn-on-red restriction at the perilous intersection of 41st Street and John Deere Road, the roads are safer. The move followed 153 crashes over two years, with significant proportions at the south and north turn lanes. Fresh data reveals a robust decline in accidents since the change. A single crash has been logged at the southbound to westbound turn and none at the northbound to eastbound turn. The city has also installed advanced traffic detection systems to address potential traffic buildup in turn lanes, successfully preventing disturbances in traffic flow.

Of the 153 crashes over the last two years, 16% occurred in the west turn lane of southbound 41st Street, and 42% occurred in the east turn lane of northbound 41st Street.
