OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center has named Abbey McCall, BSN, RN, as the 2026 DAISY Award winner
OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center has named Abbey McCall, BSN, RN, as its 2026 DAISY Award winner. McCall serves as a primary charge nurse in the Emergency Department and was honored for clinical excellence and extraordinary compassion during a critical patient situation.
Her nomination praised her quick response, coordination of care, and calm presence during a frightening time for one family. The DAISY Award recognizes nurses who go above and beyond to help patients and families feel safe and cared for.
“When I saw Abbey come through the door, I was relieved and knew my son would be in great hands,” the nomination reads. As the situation became more critical, Abbey acted immediately, coordinating critical care and transport. “I was just so thankful for Abbey and the rest of the staff. We are so blessed to have such good people working at OSF Saint Luke.”
McCall receives an award pin, a certificate, a “Healing Touch” statue, daisies, and a department banner displayed for the year.
The DAISY Award is helping OSF Saint Luke honor nurses who go above and beyond for patients and families. The international program is now found in more than 2,000 health care facilities across all 50 states and 14 countries. It was created in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 from complications of ITP. His family launched the foundation after experiencing exceptional nursing care during his hospitalization. Each year, OSF Saint Luke selects one DAISY Award recipient from community nominations. Nominations can be submitted through OSF HealthCare Foundation’s website.
