A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train near the Galesburg City limits on Thursday, March 21, 2024. Around 10 PM, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Galesburg Police Department responded to a pedestrian who was struck by a moving train near Galesburg City limits. Lifesaving measures were performed on the scene by G.H.A.S. and the Galesburg Fire Department. G.H.A.S. transported the pedestrian to St. Mary’s Hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased. The identity of the victim will not be released, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
