    Peak afternoon heat indices around 105 degrees expected.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.
    WHEN
    Until 8 PM CDT Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Heat impacts will be worsened by several consecutive days of sweltering temperatures. Additionally, there will be little relief overnight with near record warm lows forecast in the mid to upper 70s.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Preliminary Hearings from January 22, 2024

Trayton Jones – Trayton Jones, 23, of Kewanee waived his Preliminary Hearing and Formal Arraignment.  Trayton Jones is charged with failure to register a Facebook account in his name to the Kewanee Police department within three days according to the provisions of the Child Sex Offender Registration Act.  A Jury Pre-Trial is scheduled for February 15, 2024, at 11 AM.  Jones is charged with two counts of Failure to Report Annually (Class 3 Felony).

Justin Kitchener – Justin Kirchner waived his Preliminary Hearing and Formal Arraignment.  Kirchner is charged with striking an inmate on January 1, 2024.  A Jury Pre-Trial is scheduled for February 15, 2024, at 1 PM.  Kirchner is charged with two counts of Aggravated Battery/Public Place (Class 3 Felony).
