Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.

IMPACTS
Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Heat impacts will be worsened by several consecutive days of sweltering temperatures. Additionally, there will be little relief overnight with near record warm lows forecast in the mid to upper 70s.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

BEST, Inc. Hosts Veterans Employment Event

Business Employment Skills Team, Inc. (BEST, Inc.) will be hosting a Veterans Open House on Thursday, November 9th, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Oregon BEST Office located at inside the Rock River Center at 810 S. 10th Street, Oregon, Illinois 61061.

Jack Kromer, IDES Veteran’s Career Coach (VCC), will be on hand to speak to Veterans. The VCC and BEST, Inc. work together with our partners and community resources to help eligible veterans obtain meaningful careers.

There will also be information from the Goodwill Veteran Career Resources Program and other resources for Veterans at this event. BEST, Inc. is a non-profit agency that administers federally-funded programs under the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) in Bureau, Carroll, Jo Daviess, LaSalle, Lee, Ogle, Putnam and Whiteside Counties.
