State Representative Brad Fritts (R-Dixon) passed legislation in the Illinois House Monday which updates the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund disability benefits by allowing clinical psychologists to sign off on mental disabilities.

According to Fritts, the bill comes from his district where an IMRF employee was diagnosed by a psychologist with PTSD. This disability was not recognized because the psychologist was not a physician as required in the Code.

The bill now heads to the Senate for their consideration.
