Local Legionnaire Marvin Geerts Honored for 80 Years of American Legion Membership
Morrison Legion Post Commander Larry Zuidema recently presented Resthave resident and Legionnaire Marvin Geerts with an 80-Year Membership Certificate, recognizing an extraordinary lifetime of dedication and service to The American Legion.
The special ceremony celebrated Geerts’ remarkable milestone and honored his nwavering commitment to fellow veterans, American Legion programs, and the local community. Eight decades of continuous membership is a rare achievement, reflecting a lifetime of patriotism, service, and support for the nation’s veterans.
In addition to receiving his 80-Year Membership Certificate, Geerts was presented with several distinguished honors and recognitions, including:
A shadow box featuring a United States flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in his honor. A Quilt of Valor presented by the Illinois Valley Chapter of the Quilts of Valor Foundation. A 100th Birthday Certificate from Illinois American Legion District 13. A challenge coin from the District 13 Commander. Certificates of Appreciation from State Representative Ryan Spain and State Senator Li Arellano, Jr. A challenge coin from the I-80 Flags of Freedom Committee
The ceremony brought together family, friends, fellow Legionnaires, and community members to recognize Geerts’ exceptional contributions and lifelong dedication to serving others.
