Moore Tires in Rock Falls Consumed by Early Morning Fire

Sterling, Rock Falls Fire Departments, Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department, and CGH EMS were dispatched at 4:30 Tuesday morning, for a commercial structure fire at 2411 E. Rock Falls Rd. St, location of Moore Tires, in rural Rock Falls. Upon the arrival of first-in fire crews, heavy smoke and fire was showing from the roof of the entire shop area of the large commercial building. Crews began suppression efforts. A MABAS Box alarm was called which brought in other agencies to assist.

The fire progressed rapidly and spread throughout the entire building, leading the fire command to upgrade to a 3rd alarm MABAS box and take a defensive position. Partial collapse of the structure’s west and south exterior walls occurred.

Fire crews remained on the scene throughout the day, investigating the incident and hitting hot areas.

Fire departments assisting included Dixon Rural, Dixon City, Prophetstown, Morrison, Fulton, Polo, and Tampico. Many other departments assisted and a press release will be issued later with further information.

The origin of the fire Is currently under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal, ATF, and Sterling/Rock Falls Fire Departments in cooperation with the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department 

The Salvation Army canteen assisted crews on the scene and the Red Cross assisted the displaced occupants
