State Senator Win Stoller (R-Germantown Hills) released the below statement following the passage of Senate Bill 689 that limits local control in libraries throughout Illinois.
“Senate Bill 689 is the Democratic Majority’s attempt to take away local control from our Central and Northwest Illinois communities because they think they know better than our locally elected boards and officials. I am more confident in our board members’ ability to choose what books belong in our libraries than Chicago legislators who do not live within our towns. I will continue to defend the important principle of our government that local officials should have decision-making authority on issues impacting their communities.”
