Watch for Traffic Delays in Dixon
Dixon’s 2026 Street Resurfacing Program is officially underway, with city officials announcing a major push to improve roads, sidewalks, and drainage across the community. The project is backed by about $2 million in motor fuel tax revenue and local infrastructure funds. In all, crews will resurface 51 blocks of roadway, totaling roughly three-and-a-half miles.
Work is expected to continue through the summer, with additional sidewalk replacements, ADA ramp upgrades, and drainage improvements planned. Crews have already started reconstructing busy downtown crosswalks near Peoria Avenue and West Second Street, an area drivers and pedestrians should watch closely.
