Sinkhole Partially Swallows Kewanee Street Sweeper on North Elm Street

A sinkhole opened up on North Elm Street in Kewanee today ,between East 2nd and 1st Streets, partially swallowing the street sweeper. Hodge’s was able to pull the street sweeper from the sinkhole and city employees say the street sweeper doesn’t appear very damaged. The sinkhole is approximately four feet deep and stretches from the curb and into the northbound lane. The road is expected to be closed for crews to work on the water break. A broken water line caused the sinkhole.
