Charges Filed After Peoria Police Car Was Struck by a Stray Bullet

In Peoria, on February 8, 2024, 25-year-old Donte A. Wright was charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and being an Armed Habitual Criminal, following a shooting incident last month. No injuries were reported, but a police car was struck by a stray bullet. Wright will remain in custody at the Peoria County Jail until his trial. The incident occurred as officers responded to an accident, during which they heard 15 gunshots and a stray bullet hit their car. Through camera footage and eyewitness accounts, Wright was identified as the suspect. The investigation continues, with more charges expected as the case goes to the Grand Jury.
