Reps. Eric Sorensen (IL-17) and Yadira Caraveo (CO-08) have proposed the Abortion Care Enhancement and Support Services (ACCESS) Act of 2024. Aiming to expand reproductive healthcare across the US, the bill enables hospitals and clinics to apply for funding to augment service provisions, from facilities expansion to telehealth administration and staff training. The act was applauded by Planned Parenthood Illinois Action’s Senior Director of Public Policy Rianne Hawkins. Sorensen has previously championed the Women’s Health Protection Act and the Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act, displaying his commitment to safeguard women’s reproductive rights.
