Galesburg Garage Fire Causes More than $40 Grand Damage

A severe fire erupted at a detached garage at 1167 S. Pearl St., Galesburg at 11:16 a.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Galesburg Fire Department’s swift response involved all three stations with an eleven-person crew. Under the control of Battalion Chief Perry, the heavy fire was quickly extinguished. Aside from minor burn injuries to the owner who escaped unscathed, no other casualties were reported. The incident incurred an estimated loss of about $40,000 as a result of significant fire and smoke damage to the garage, other structures, and four vehicles. Investigators have ruled the incident as unintentional.
