In Peoria, Illinois, a tragic case has reached a resolution as 27-year-old Shamari R. Williams pleaded guilty to First Degree Murder in the death of his two-year-old daughter, Emorri Green. The incident, dating back to February 2022, unfolded when police were called to Williams’s residence due to reports of a child not breathing. Despite first responders’ efforts, Emorri succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Investigations revealed severe bruising and life-threatening internal injuries consistent with prolonged abuse. Originally, Williams claimed the injuries were from disciplining Emorri with a belt. He now faces 20 to 75 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for June 27.
