Teenager Charged for Killing Cat in Peoria County

In a disturbing case out of Peoria County, a 16-year-old has been charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and Depiction of Animal Cruelty. The charges come after the teen allegedly threw a cat from a speeding vehicle, and recorded the act on Snapchat, sharing the video with others. Despite objections from the prosecutor, the court has released the juvenile from custody. This case, due to the defendant’s clean criminal background, will be handled in juvenile court, not adult court.
