As Illinois sees a decline in respiratory viruses, health officials are emphasizing the importance of COVID-19 vaccination. Despite the seasonal decrease, COVID-19 does not follow the same patterns as flu or RSV, particularly affecting older adults and those with weakened immune systems. The Illinois Department of Public Health encourages vulnerable groups to get vaccinated with the updated 2023-2024 Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Available at Henry and Stark County Health Departments, as well as First Choice Healthcare clinics in Kewanee, Colona, and Toulon, appointments can be made by calling the respective numbers listed. Vaccinations are available for both insured and uninsured adults through the Bridge Access Program.
