Henry County Farm Bureau is gearing up for a busy summer, starting with next week’s Henry County Fair. Manager Katie Lalleman says Farm Bureau will have a booth in the Merchants Building, offering members discounted tickets for the pork producers’ stand and sharing information with non-member agriculture education, landowner rights, legislative priorities, and member discounts. Upcoming events include a Market Outlook seminar on June 30th at Lavender Crest, Safety Starts With You on July 8th in Geneseo, and the Farm Bureau Foundation Golf Fun Day on August 14th at Baker Park in Kewanee. Proceeds support Ag in the Classroom programming.

Henry County Farm Bureau Young Leaders hosting free kids’ pedal tractor pull on June 17th

Families heading to the Henry County Fair can add a kid-friendly competition to the schedule. The Henry County Farm Bureau Young Leaders are hosting a free Kids Pedal Tractor Pull on Wednesday, June 17th. The event is open to children ages eleven and under, giving young fairgoers a chance to test their pedal power in a fun, friendly setting. Registration begins at 4:30 PM, with pulls starting at 5 PM. Kristi Van Ahn-Kjeseth, Chief Operating Officer of Van Ahn and Company, will be the featured speaker, offering insight into current trends and what producers may want to watch moving forward. The Henry County Farm Bureau Health and Safety Committee will host its fifth annual Safety Starts With You event on Wednesday, July 8th, from 5 to 7 in the evening at Central Bank Pavilion in Geneseo. The free public event will feature hands-on demonstrations, interactive exhibitsgrain bin rescue information, cardiopulmonary resuscitation training, Stop the Bleed techniques, mental health resources, agricultural equipment safety, children’s activities, giveaways, and local safety displays. Food vendors and restaurants will be on site, followed by Angela Meyer in the Central Bank Concert Series from 6 to 8 PM.
