At 11:07 PM, Wednesday, September 10th, the Macomb Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 606 S. Albert St for a report of a garage fully engulfed in flames with fire extending into a residence. Fire Department personnel arrived on scene in 3 minutes and observed smoke and flames coming out of a garage which was beginning to ignite the house and a car parked in the driveway.
The on-duty crew began extinguishing the fire and brought it under control at 11:52 PM. Six firefighters initially responded with two engines. Two Fire Chiefs and 6 off-duty firefighters were called in to assist at the fire and provide coverage for any additional emergencies. Fire investigators processed the scene and cleared at 1:47 AM.
No firefighters or civilians were injured.
The garage sustained fire, smoke, and water damage throughout and has an estimated loss of $35,000. A portion of the residence was affected by the fire and firefighting efforts. Two vehicles parked in and near the garage were also significantly damaged.
The fire cause is undetermined and is still under investigation at the time of this release.
