As November comes to a close, it’s time for the annual lighting of Windmont and Northeast Parks on December 3, 2023, around 5:30 PM.  The park’s lighting follows the 17th annual Lighted Christmas Parade that begins on West McClure Street and ends at Windmont Park.  There will be a fireworks display prior to the lighting of Windmont Park.  Parkgoers can walk around Windmont see all the light displays and get their selfies on the bridge.  You can stay warm in your car and drive the beautiful light displays at Northeast Park.

A message from the Windmont Park Lighting Facebook page: “2023 Windmont Park Lighting will be this Sunday, December 3rd. The Chamber of Commerce’s Lighted Parade will start off the festivities at 5pm. This parade begins by the Beck’s Gas Station on Tenney St and works its way down McClure St to the Windmont Park. After an unbelievable Fireworks Display put on by the Windmont Park Lighting Volunteers, Santa Claus will give the sign to “Light the Park”. We have brought back two of your favorite Christmas displays that you haven’t seen for some time. Again (only for Opening Night), Santa’s Workshop with the Peppermint Bubbles will be creating fun for all ages to enjoy. Special treats inside for the kiddo’s. Don’t forget that Northeast Park is also having its Opening Night and you can stay in the warmth and comfort of your own car and enjoy the best display that the Northeast Volunteers have worked so hard on. Special thanks to Kewanee LifeSkills ReEntry from both parks that are very grateful for all you do to help us create the beauty of Christmas and the reason for the season. Hill Church will also be performing a Living Nativity in Windmont Park that you won’t want your families to miss.”

You can enter to be in the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce Lighted Parade until December 1st.  If you have any questions or need guidance on decorating a float, call the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce at 309-852-2175 for assistance.  The parade begins in the former Tenney Bowl parking lot and will drive west on West McClure Street to Windmont Park.  Santa will make an appearance in the parade again this year.
