A large sinkhole on Rose Street caused major disruption Thursday night, opening beneath a passing trash truck. Fortunately, the vehicle avoided damage, but city crews responded swiftly, blocking off the area with safety barriers to protect both drivers and pedestrians. Initial repair efforts are underway, but progress is paused as teams await specialized equipment, which is expected to arrive on Monday. A complete repair is targeted for March 31, 2026, according to Interim City Manager Kasey Mitchell. Eastbound traffic is still moving, but Boss Street remains inaccessible from Rose Street. Residents are advised to heed the posted signage and use caution in the affected area.
