Memorial Hospital Announces Speech-Language Pathology Services
Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the addition of speech-language pathology services and welcomes Shelbi White, MS, CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech- Language Pathology), to its team. White joins Memorial Hospital as the organization’s first speech- language pathologist and will lead the newly established speech-language pathology program, expanding access to specialized care for patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. She will also work closely with Memorial Hospital’s Transitional Care (Swing Bed) team to support patients throughout their recovery and rehabilitation journey.
White, a Hancock County native, brings a wealth of clinical experience working with patients across the lifespan. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2018 and her Master of Science in Speech Pathology in 2020, both from Western Illinois University. Following graduate school, she completed clinical experiences at area schools and a medical internship at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Since 2020, White has served as an SLP, providing care for pediatrics and adults in outpatient settings as well as acute, assisted living facilities, and home health services. Speech-language pathology encompasses much more than speech alone. White will provide evaluation and treatment for a wide variety of communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders affecting both children and adults. Services include treatment for speech sound disorders, language delays, stuttering, aphasia, motor speech disorders, and cognitive-communication challenges.

“I am so excited to be able to serve and give back to the communities that gave so much to me throughout my childhood and into adulthood”,said White. “As a speech-language pathologist, I believe communication is one of the most powerful tools we have for connecting with others and navigating the world around us. I am dedicated to helping individuals reach their unique goals through compassionate, patient-centered care while creating an environment where patients and families feel heard, valued, and empowered”.
