Second-grade student Mason Vancil served as Page for a Day with State Representative Dan Swanson

A West Central Elementary second grader got a close-up look at state government Friday. Mason Vancil, of the Monmouth area, served as Page for a Day in the Illinois House of Representatives as a guest of State Representative Dan Swanson of Alpha. Swanson said Mason brought joy to the chamber during what he described as long and tense days on the House floor. Mason enjoys reading, swimming, fishing, baseball, time with friends, and trips to the park with his brother. He also helped plant the family garden this spring and is looking forward to cheering on the Cubs in St. Louis.

“Mason was a joy to have with us in the chamber today as we work through some of the longest and most tense days on the House floor,” Swanson said.
