Chateau Estates Slowly Returning to Normal
Gas service restoration is still underway in the Chateau Estates community after Monday morning’s manufactured home explosion. The blast injured one person and prompted a temporary evacuation of about 300 to 400 nearby residents after elevated gas levels were detected. Officials say families were cleared to return home by Monday evening, once the immediate safety concern had eased.
Nicor Gas crews remain on site, continuing to monitor the system and restore service carefully across the area. Residents are being urged to stay alert, report any gas odor immediately, and follow instructions from utility crews and local emergency officials.
