The Annawan Braves are off to a hot start at 4 and 1. The Braves beat Putnam County 43 to 39 last Friday. Gabe Sims scored 12 points in the winning effort, while point guard Brody Childs added 10 points. After briefly falling behind in the 3rd Quarter, the Braves fought back to get the win thanks to a fourth quarter where they outscored Putnam County 15 to 6. The fourth quarter surge took the Braves to victory and moved them to 3 and 1 on the season.

The Braves then picked up their fourth consecutive win in a barn burner against Wethersfield, 52 to 50. Despite 22 points from Landon Sauer of Wethersfield, and a big fourth quarter comeback by the Flying Geese, Annawan held strong and held them off thanks to the terrific play of Brody Childs who led the way with 14 points and scored the winning basket in the final minutes of play to secure the win and the Wally Keller Tournament Championship.

Annawan’s Gabe Sims, Brody Childs, and Brady Heitzler each earned All Tournament team honors for their Championship victory.
