The Bureau County Retired Teachers Association (BCRTA) is holding its Spring meeting on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, beginning at noon with a catered lunch at the Princeton Public Library. Jessica Gray, Curator of the Bureau County Historical Society and History Center, and Lex Poppins, Executive Director, will host the program for the meeting at 12:30 PM. The Park Tavern is catering the lunch and requires reservations five days prior to the meeting, which is Friday, April 12th. If you order a lunch and are unable to attend, you will need to reimburse the unit for the $15 cost of the lunch. April Menu: Mostaccioli, tossed salad, and Texas Sheet Cake. Participants may attend either the luncheon and the program, or just the program. Please invite a retired colleague to attend as well and spouses are always welcome.
A newsletter was sent in early April to all retired teachers in the county by our local Bureau County RTA Unit. If you did not receive a newsletter, contact us at: [email protected]. Retired teachers are encouraged to attend our meetings. Our 2024 speakers will be local to Bureau County, and the BCRTA leadership team will address concerns about teacher pensions, health benefits, legislative protections for retirees, our state organization, and the many benefits available to IRTA members.
Retired teacher local membership allows a local voice in how the organization is run and supports local volunteers filling state leadership positions. Plus, lunch is always a good time to catch up with friends, old and new. Make your reservation today. Local dues are $10.00 a year, payable in April.
