MOLINE, IL – The Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 4, led by Captain Dustin Geier, is launching a safety campaign across Peoria, Tazewell, and Fulton counties in May. They aim to tackle distracted driving, drunk driving, and seatbelt violations, among other road safety issues.

The initiative involves patrols to spot distracted drivers, particularly those texting while driving, in Peoria and Tazewell counties. Patrols in Tazewell County will also focus on identifying drunk drivers and other hazardous behaviors.

Efforts will also be made to ensure seatbelt use and proper child safety seat usage in vehicles across the three counties. These measures come as part of a broader crackdown on speeding, drunk driving, seatbelt violations, and distracted driving in Peoria, Tazewell, McDonough, and Knox counties.

Additionally, Peoria County will see increased patrols targeting drunk driving, while nighttime patrols in Peoria and Tazewell counties will focus on curbing unsafe driving habits after dark.

Captain Geier emphasizes the importance of these measures in promoting road safety and preventing accidents.
