The Kewanee Boiler Girls Softball team kicked off TRAC (East) conference play with a nail-biting 5-4 victory over the Erie-Prophetstown Lady Panthers on Monday, April 6th. Kewanee surged ahead early with key hits by Remy Hicks and Macee Pickering and added insurance runs in the third inning. Erie-Prophetstown threatened late, powered by two home runs, but the Boiler Girls held firm. Pitcher Kalleigh Gale led the way with eight strikeouts, giving up just six hits and four runs across seven innings. With this win, Kewanee stands at 5-2 overall and heads to Princeville on Tuesday, looking to build on its momentum.

- Kewanee answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning after a lead off walk by Clucas, and doubles by Pickering and Blades.
- Lyric Duytschayver reached on a dropped third strike in the bottom of the 6th inning. Pinch runner, Dani Jo Currier, scored on a passed ball after stealing 1st & 2nd base.
- Erie-Prophetstown’s 7th inning rally fell short after a home run to center field in the top of the 7th inning scoring 2 more runs.
- Starting pitcher, Kalleigh Gale, earned the win for the Boiler Girls. The starter scattered 6 hits and four runs over 7 innings, Striking out eight E-P batters – walking only one.
