Woodlawn Arts Academy’s Winter Art Exhibit features more than 100 pieces of artwork from local artist Beverly Garcia. Garcia’s art will be on display in the halls and lounge at Woodlawn through Friday, February 10th, and the show is free to view during regular business hours: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays.

Garcia, who started her journey in art at age 50, focuses mainly on florals, portraits, still life, animals and landscapes, mostly in oils, but also in pastel and pencil. She has exhibited at various galleries, banks, restaurants and hospitals in Illinois, the first Oil Painters of America show in Chicago, and the Midwest Pastel Society. She has become active in the art scene of the Rock River Valley, entering exhibits and displaying at The Next Picture Show and Woodlawn Arts Academy.

The Academy’s next art exhibit features artwork from area students and teachers. The show opens Friday, February 24th, with a reception from 5-6:30 p.m.

The public is invited to attend to meet the artists and vote on their favorite pieces. Voting continues on Facebook through March 10th.
