Deputies Investigate Hit & Run Involving Bicyclist on U.S. Route 30
At approximately 10:21 PM on Sunday, June 21st, Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office Telecommunications received a 911 call reporting a traffic crash involving a bicyclist on U.S. Route 30 in front of Crystal Lake, rural Rock Falls.
Initial investigation by Deputies on scene determined a westbound vehicle struck a bicyclist and subsequently left the scene. The bicyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Illinois State Police, Rock Falls Police Department, Rock Falls Fire Department, and CGH EMS.
The crash remains under investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit. Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is a 2019-2024 Ram 1500 pickup truck of unknown color. The vehicle is missing its passenger-side exterior mirror, and has damage to the passenger-side headlamp, grille, and front fender area.
