House Republican Leader Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) told a media gathering in her Springfield office today that House Republicans want to be a little more proactive this year when it comes to getting into the framework of the governor’s budget address compared to waiting until after fact.

McCcombie said it is just one of the priorities of the GOP members.  She said there are a number of things her caucus would like to see, including first and foremost, to hold the majority party accountable in their spending.

She also pointed to no new taxes, no graduated income tax, tackling the pension debt, addressing state agency mismanagement and disfunction, and getting our prior obligations met from the 2019 Capitol bill.   McCombie said that House Republicans had $41.8 million in projects from that bill that haven’t been released, and she added, not released for political reasons.

One last major priority she pointed to was ethics reform.   She stated real ethics reform in the state is needed so residents of the state can support, believe, and trust in state government.
