MPD Names Det. Jordan Hawes Officer Of Year 2023

MACOMB, IL – The Macomb Police Department held a special ceremony in the Community Room of Macomb City Hall on Wednesday afternoon to name the Officer Of The Year for 2023.

Macomb Police Chief Jeff Hamer opened the ceremony by recounting the origin of the Officer of the Year award in 2012 and the qualities of the officers who receive it, including their dedication to duty, outstanding job performance, unsullied moral character, exceptional community and civic leadership, and professional police image. mong fellow officers and the public before naming the 2023 recipient — Detective Jordan Hawes.

In his opening remarks, Hamer noted Det. Hawes’ has modeled the aforementioned qualities since the beginning of his commission in the Macomb Police Department, in addition to highlight his diligence, poise, and attention to detail. Hamer pointed to the March 2023 shooting on South Johnson Street as a testament to Det. Hawes’ determination to uncovering the truth and seeking justice.

In his acceptance speech, Hawes’ made a point to thank those who have supported his efforts during his career including his investigative team, the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office, the Illinois State Patrol, Assistant State’s Attorney Susan Maxwell, and most importantly — his family.
